28mm Warlord WWII Late War Germans

 All,

You've seen all my Fallschirmjager and my early war Wehrmacht, so here is my late-war Wehrmacht, denoted by MG-42s, a plethora of shelter halves being worn as overgarments, a few Stg-44s/MP-44s, and panzerschrecks and panzerfausts.  As (almost) always, these were done by me using Contrast paints.  I did the base uniforms in a dark gray (Space Wolves) rather than the field gray (mix of Basilicum Gray and Creed Camo) I used on the early war Germans, only because I did these first and wasn't yet aware of being able to make a mix to get to field gray.  The camo uses Skeleton Horde as a base and then Militarum Green and Snakebite Leather over it.  I have a 7.5cm field gun that I painted in Dark Angels Green; it should be a dunkelgelb (dark yellow) color (or even camo) for late war, but I wanted to be able to use it for early war and so painted it dark green and will just roll with that throughout the war.

The whole mess: 42 infantrymen, a panzerschreck team, the field gun, and an MG-42 team.  I actually have another MG-42 team that I need to finish, and I'll just use the flamethrower team and mortar team from my early war troops with these guys.  The gun crew for the field gun is separate from the gun's base, so I can use them for this or any ATG I might want/need.

I've got four MG-42s; not bad poses, but you can't really build a firing pose, and there aren't any prone bodies in this set.

Moving up, carrying a stick grenade.

Reverse.

A Lance Corporal (I think?) with a gun, belted ammo lying over it, MP-40 slung, glancing at a map.

Reverse.

Moving up, camo shelter half over his uniform.

Reverse. This set, specifically doing the camo on the shelter halves and helmet covers, was what convinced me that I could actually use Contrast paints for my WWII stuff.

Heading up front, gun over his shoulder.

Reverse.

A group of guys with MP-40s.

Leader type with field glasses.

Submachine gun leveled, helmet strapped to his back.

Another guy advancing with MP-40 at the ready.

An officer-type with barracks cover.

Fifteen riflemen with KaR-98s.

Good looking-panzerfaust pose.

Again.

Kneeling firing position.

Moving up with panzerfaust.

Moving up, rifle levelled in the direction of trouble.

Firing from off-hand pose.

Slinking forward behind the hedgerows.

Reverse.

An assistant gunner.

Another rifleman advancing, this one with G-43.

Ten men with Stg-44s.

A really good looking kneeling position.

Moving up.

Firing on the move.

Chucking a grenade.

Moving up.

Steady standing position.

The panzerschreck team on the move.  Again, not bad, but I'd like to see them shooting at something.

Reverse.

MG-42 team with gun on a tripod.

Again.

The 7.5cm infantry gun.
Again.

Pretty cool little force, much easier to paint up then I expected, and not too bad looking ;)

Jack

  1. Another nice set of figures. I rather like that grey colour, it will do for Luftwaffe field division types as well as Army.

    1. Thanks, Martin. I did these guys first or I would Have used the field gray mix I used on the early war guys. It’s funny though, I thought the same thing, it’s perfect for Luftwaffe.

  2. Good stuff! We must be close the end of the figures gallery - only Russia and and Japanese to go I think?

Then you have to actually select and commit to some rules. lol.

    1. Thanks, Shaun! Hmmm, not as close as you think. By my count there are still 17 more posts to make, so about another week of two posts per night…

But don’t fret, this weekend I shall put some troops on the table and toss some dice, just not exactly sure what, yet.
